PM calls to pay his respects to late security guard's family

PETALING JAYA: Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob contacted and paid his respects to the family of the security guard who recently died after being assaulted by a homestay guest at a condominium in Ipoh last year.

The Prime Minister had initially tried to contact the man's widow but was unable to reach her.

He was then able to speak to her nephew to pass his condolences, according to Ipoh Barat MP M. Kulasegaran in a tweet on Wednesday (Sept 1).

On Monday (Aug 30), police reclassified the assault case to murder following the victim's death on Friday (Aug 27).

The 64-year-old security guard died at his house on Friday, and the post-mortem found that he had died due to sepsis, caused by infection in his lungs.

It was reported that the security guard had sustained head injuries during the Dec 29 incident after being assaulted by the guest following an argument.

The security guard was found by a worker at the condominium, bleeding from his head and was rushed to the Hospital Raja Permaisuri Bainun in a semi-conscious state.
