PETALING JAYA: A total of 509 individuals were nabbed for violating standard operating procedures (SOP) on Sunday (Feb 28), says Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.
The Senior Minister (Security) said of that number, 472 were compounded while 37 were remanded.
Engaging in entertainment centre activities was the primary violation, with 114 people committing the offence.
Other top offences included not wearing face masks (94 people), failing to provide equipment to record details of customers (92), failing to maintain physical distancing (91).
There were also individuals who were also caught for interstate travel (58), operating their premises beyond what is allowed (44), gambling activities (two), breaking quarantine orders (one), and others (13).
He added that seven illegal migrants were caught, while one sea vessel and three land vehicles were seized in Op Benteng which is aimed to tighten border control.
“During the operation, authorities also detected 117 sea vessels in the country’s waters and two land vehicles through seven scouting operations.
“Besides that, 13 illegal migrants were expelled through seven operations, ” he said in a statement on Sunday (Feb 28).
Ismail Sabri also added that 13,091 foreigners had undergone the Covid-19 test on Saturday (Feb 27) with 20 found to be positive.
