IPOH: The Perak government has received a total of RM11mil for its Social Aid and Disaster Fund from various government-linked companies and private bodies, says Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu (pic).
The Mentri Besar said as of Friday (April 3), they received another contribution of RM3.06mil, including from Tenaga Nasional Bhd (TNB) which chipped in RM2mil.
“I am glad that we have received very good response from so many parties.
“We will use the contribution to fight the Covid-19 pandemic and help the needy affected by the movement control order (MCO).
“Part of the funds have already been allocated to the needy, ” he said in a statement on Friday (April 3).
The RM2mil from TNB was presented to Ahmad Faizal by Energy and Natural Resources Minister Datuk Dr Shamsul Anuar Nasarah.
Among the other GLCs that contributed were Mentri Besar Incorporation, Perak State Secretary Corporation, Perak Water Board, Perak Agriculture Development Corporation, Team Keris Bhd and Empayar Indera Sdn Bhd.
Shamsul said the allocation from TNB was to help the state government to purchase medical equipment and other necessities to curb the spread of the virus in the state.
He said it was part of the RM17.5mil that TNB has handed over to states in Peninsular Malaysia to curb the Covid-19.
“Each state has received between RM1mil and RM2.5mil.
“For Perak, the sum is partly for the purchase of two ventilators for patients suffering from the disease, ” he said.
