It was a proud moment for Alokas Arts Academy and their students when they bagged two gold and three silver medals at the 1st Pacific Asian Yoga Sports Championship 2017 held in Bangkok, Thailand.
The event was organised by Thai Yoga Sports Federation under the auspices of International Yoga Federation Vienna (Austria).
Five of Alokas Arts Academy’s yoga students aged from eight to 10 years were selected based on their national-level achievement in performing yoga fusion dance for the Malaysia Book of Records in March this year at Universiti Malaya, Kuala Lumpur and given special training by yoga master Segar Guru to take part in the said international yoga competition.
Eight-year-old Krithiga Mathavan and Viroshan Ram Srisivaram,10, won gold medals while Lakkshana Rajagopal, eight, Varshinee Vivakanatha,10, and special needs child M.V. Bharat Amba-lan, 10, won silver medals, bringing pride to their parents and the nation.
Their achievement will pave the way for many more events like this and provide the children an opportunity to build their self-esteem, especially those with limitations while setting a benchmark for future international yoga events.
