Malaysia has risen to prominence in the game of badminton on a global level, igniting a passion for it across the nation.
This year marks Asics’ foray into presenting a badminton tournament that aims to provide a competitive platform showcasing rising badminton talents throughout Malaysia.
The inaugural Asics Badminton Championship 2015 will be held from Oct 9 to 11 at University of Malaya Sports Centre (Pusat Sukan Universiti Malaya), Kuala Lumpur.
“We are very excited to launch this event here,” says Asics Asia general manager Yogesh Gandhi.
“Given the increasing popularity of badminton nationwide, we are privileged to be part of the sport here, and to provide a new competitive platform for anyone who would like to hone their skills and measure themselves against fellow enthusiasts in a friendly, engaging, and exhilarating platform. We certainly hope this will be an opportunity for emerging badminton talents to spur each other to greater heights in the game.”
Designed with elite players in mind, Asics will also release the court specific Gel-Court Control. The Gel-Court Control is lightweight for speed around the court, and comes equipped with rearfoot and forefoot gel cushioning systems for excellent cushioning.
“We will be progressively work harder to bring high performance sporting solutions to our Malaysian competitive badminton players, as well as sports and fitness enthusiasts.
“We believe in being a committed player to a national sporting ecosystem, and look forward to entrenching ourselves in Malaysia for the long haul,” Yogesh added.
