KL sports bar game for social time or quiet pour

A NEW sports-themed bar in Kuala Lumpur showcases eye-catching memorabilia as part of its decor.

At Sukan, The Fifth Game, a replica Formula 1 race car takes pride of place in an illuminated display case, alongside a massive dartboard and a showcase of pristine NBA Los Angeles Lakers jerseys – an Instagrammable backdrop, for sure.

The establishment in Bukit Damansara feels like a living museum of global sports.

It offers settings tailored to various groups to enjoy alcoholic beverages with bar food.

An alfresco area provides the ideal setting for groups to share draught beer and socialise, while the air-conditioned interior provides a cosier spot for dining and cocktails.

Walking deeper into the venue, guests will find a more private area suited for quiet conversation, as well as a hidden sliding door that reveals a cigar lounge.

Sukan, The Fifth Game is a sister venue to the cocktail bars Buku, The First Chapter and Benang, The Second Chapter.

Atmosphere aside, the bar boasts a cocktail selection ranging from classics to signatures.

Guests can start with a refreshing Aperol Spritz or a classic Whiskey Sour.

For something more spirit-forward, the Espresso Martini hits all the right notes.

According to the bartender, Sukan’s version features a custom blend of Indonesian and Malaysian coffee beans.

“Instead of the traditional vodka, we incorporate mezcal, agave and Kahlúa into the drink.

“The smokiness of the mezcal pairs brilliantly with the robust espresso shot,” the bartender said.

Garnished with whole coffee beans, the tipple delivers rich chocolatey and nutty undertones, while the Kahlúa adds a velvety smoothness.

Signature cocktail highlights include Your Girl’s Favourite, Adult Slurpy as well as drinks with sports-inspired names such as Golden Boot and Stadium Lights.

Your Girl’s Favourite is a welcoming drink with a balanced sweet-and-sour profile.

It mixes rum, pineapple, coconut cream, vanilla and lime, for a tropical, citrusy twist on the classic Pina Colada by using Plantation Pineapple rum.

Stadium Lights combines Grey Goose vodka, dragon fruit, elderflower and Prosecco to produce a vibrant, colourful pour.

Adult Slurpy is a slushie-style cocktail that blends Don Julio Tequila, grapefruit, lime and soda into a refreshing palate cleanser, ideal after a rich meal.

Beyond cocktails, the bar maintains a curated selection of red and white wines, and premium spirits.

The venue also features a professional wine preservation system to ensure that every glass poured remains fresh.

Famed for its hearty bites, the kitchen dishes out Grilled Chicken Chop, Smashed Lamb Burger and Nachos Libre.

The chicken chop is a timeless crowd-pleaser, with the thigh grilled to ensure maximum tenderness and finished with a smoky pepper sauce, served with fries and salad.

The lamb burger features a perfectly seared patty in a soft, toasted bun with melted cheese and zesty toppings.

Diners can also try the nachos topped with tomato salsa, jalapenos, sour cream and guacamole.

Happy Hour runs daily from 6pm to 10pm, offering special pricing across beers, wines and cocktails.
