Three years after the death of Pertiwi Soup Kitchen founder Datuk Munirah Abdul Hamid, her legacy lives on.
Her son, Adlan Hercus, co-founder and chief executive officer of Fev3r, a digital healthcare provider, is continuing to help Malaysians in need, the company said in a statement.
The firm teamed up with Neuramatix, a technology company and artificial intelligence (AI) pioneer in Malaysia and South-East Asia, to provide medical and food assistance to the homeless and urban poor at Pusat Khidmat Gelandangan Medan Tuanku in Chow Kit, Kuala Lumpur.
The initiative is conducted on a monthly basis to provide support to the community.
Those in need receive free medical consultations, check-ups and medicine to support general healthcare needs and address their health-related concerns.
The services were provided by Fev3r’s network of licensed and registered Malaysian doctors.
“Three years have passed since my mother left us but the values she lived by remain with us.
“She built a community of advocates who care deeply for those in need and that work must continue for the betterment and well-being of our communities,” said Adlan.
“Every effort and every collaboration, whether big or small, can contribute to something greater.
“I am deeply grateful to Neuramatix for coming together with us to make this initiative possible and help carry her legacy forward.”
Munirah was widely regarded for her humanitarian work and for founding Pertiwi, an organisation dedicated to serving vulnerable communities, the statement read.
Her work helped shine light on the realities faced by the homeless, disadvantaged and marginalised.
Over 800 food packs were also distributed to support Pertiwi’s efforts to ensure that underprivileged communities have access to free, nutritious meals.
