Selangor announces RM4.76mil relief package

Selangor government has allocated RM4.76mil for a three-month housing rental and loan repayment moratorium to help people cope with the rising cost of living.

Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari said the moratorium, which runs from October to December, would benefit 1,012 tenants under the Smart Sewa Programme, involving an allocation of RM2.22mil.

"Currently, monthly rentals under the Smart Sewa Programme range between RM450 and RM1,300.

"The state government is committed to ensuring these rental rates remain unchanged, particularly during this challenging period," he said.

Amirudin added that civil servants servicing state housing loans could also apply for a similar repayment moratorium during the same period.

"This initiative is expected to benefit 2,333 civil servants based in Selangor, with RM2.54mil allocated for the purpose," he said.

The initiatives are part of the RM209.26mil second phase of the Selangor Resilience Enhancement Package, which he tabled at a special sitting of the Selangor State Assembly at Bangunan Dewan Negeri Selangor in Shah Alam today (June 19).
