Seven senior Johor officials recently completed an international executive course on artificial intelligence (AI).

The “Leading the AI-Driven Organisation” programme was held at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in the US.

State education and information committee chairman Aznan Tamin, who attended, said the course provided a comprehensive understanding of AI.

“It is aimed at strengthening the state’s capability in spearheading and managing AI initiatives to deliver efficient services to the people.

“It would also help ensure that every policy and decision is centred on the rakyat,” he said when contacted.

The other attendees were Kulai district officer Fizwan Mohd Rashidi, Mersing district officer Jamil Hasni Abdullah, Institut Dato’ Onn director Mohd Johari Tarmidi, Iskandar Puteri City Council secretary Ezahar Abu Sairin, Yayasan Pelajaran Johor education group chief executive officer Mohd Fahmi Salam and Syarikat Air Johor Sdn Bhd CEO Mohd Riduan Md Ali.

The session was organised by Permodalan Darul Takzim in collaboration with MIT and Johor Talent Development Council (JTDC).

Aznan said the major focus was the role of leaders in shaping organisations to face technological changes in a strategic and ethical manner.

“We were exposed to approaches that integrate human capabilities and technology, including using data and AI to enhance operational efficiency and accelerate effective decision-making.

“The knowledge and exposure will be utilised to advance Johor’s digital innovation agenda, in line with the establishment of Johor AI Council under the Johor Digital Council.

“We will ensure that the knowledge we have gained contributes directly to technological advancement, strengthens education and benefits the people of Johor,” Aznan added. — By MYSARA FAUZI
