A visit by Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) youth wing brought cheer to residents of Sibu Benevolent Society Care Centre (SBSCC) .

Led by its chief, Kapitan Chew Hoo Kiong, the Bawang Assan branch donated rice, noodles, eggs and dishwashing liquid to the nursing home which houses 15 women and 13 men aged 60 to 80.

The visit was the wing’s first community activity of 2026 as part of its commitment to serve the people and care for the underprivileged.

The donation was witnessed by branch chairman Kevin Lau, who said: “We want to continue maintaining close ties with the community through various charitable and outreach activities, working together to bring more positive energy to society.”

During the visit, members gained a deeper understanding of the society’s daily operations and its current needs.

SBSCC senior nurse Wong Mee Siang expressed hope that the organisation would continue to receive greater attention and support from the public, particularly in meeting its ongoing operational expenses and basic material needs.

She also noted that the youth wing’s gesture not only provided tangible assistance but also brought warmth and encouragement to residents and staff.
