It may seem impossible to buy a whole chicken for 88sen and fresh fruits or vegetables for 8sen anywhere in the country, let alone in the heart of Kuala Lumpur.

However, ST Rosyam Mart that just opened in the capital is offering its members these promotional prices until Jan 1, 2026.

The promotion is in conjunction with the grand opening of the 24-hour wholesale supermarket at Jakel Square.

“Customers need to register as an ST Member, at RM15, to enjoy these discounts,” said ST Rosyam Mart Sdn Bhd director Datuk Rosyam Nor during the outlet’s launch.

Shoppers can download the ST Card app from Google Play or App Store.

The mart was opened under a partnership between the entertainer and Sri Ternak Group.

Recalling their friendship turned business partnership, Sri Ternak Group chief executive officer and managing director Datuk Raymond Ho Cheng Hann said Rosyam had initially contacted his office to gift him a jackfruit.

“I forgot the appointment and had scheduled a meeting.

“When Rosyam passed by my meeting room, I heard my Malay female staff scream,” he said.

“They were so excited but I had no clue who he was.

“I got to know him, watched his movies and realised that he was very popular.”

The duo became friends and Rosyam shared with Ho his childhood dream of opening a grocery store with affordable prices.

According to Ho, ST Rosyam Mart Jakel Square is on a 3,344.5sq m site and employs 400 staff.

The store is the ninth wholesale supermarket in the partnership that started in 2018.

Rosyam said the wholesale market idea was meant to help Malaysians get value for their money.

More than 220 grocery items, including fresh vegetables, fruits, frozen seafood and dried goods, will be available at prices as low as 8sen.

Over 45 bulk items such as frozen seafood and other grocery essentials are also offered at affordable prices.

Overall, the mart offers over 40,000 products including local and imported meats such as whole lamb and wagyu beef cuts, as well as fresh and frozen seafood including king crab, air-flown salmon, tuna, celebrity-branded items, and household brands.

Until Feb 28 next year, visitors who spend RM150 in a single receipt at the ST Rosyam Mart Jakel Square store can participate in its “Spend & Menang” contest.

The prizes include an electric scooter, iPhone 17 Pro and trolley items worth RM700.

Also present at the launch were the Prime Minister’s political secretary Datuk Azman Abidin and veteran singer and actress Datuk Khatijah Ibrahim.
