Subang MP calls for transparency on development near Ayer Hitam Forest Reserve

THE Selangor government has been urged to disclose within two weeks a full chronology and records related to land near the Ayer Hitam Forest Reserve in Kinrara.

Subang MP Wong Chen said he had received 3,752 signatures from residents opposing the proposed housing development on the site.

He told a press conference at his office in Puchong on Monday (Dec 15) that the land had been transferred from Permodalan Negeri Selangor Bhd (PNSB) to a property developer.

He stressed that details of the ownership transfer and sale price must be made public.

"This matter is of urgent public interest. The Selangor government should provide the details under the Freedom of Information (State of Selangor) Enactment 2011," he said.

Wong said his office was fully committed to transparency and accountability, and he hoped for a favourable response from the state within two weeks.

He added that last week, he had met Subang Jaya mayor Datuk Amirul Azizan, who agreed to provide regular updates on any new assessments or developments related to the land.

"In principle, I am against the proposed housing development, but we must be mindful of the acquisition costs if we are to reacquire the land and gazette it as part of the Ayer Hitam Forest Reserve," Wong said.

It was reported on Nov 22 that residents in Puchong had gathered to oppose the planned project near the forest reserve, saying it would worsen congestion, strain infrastructure, and threaten one of Selangor’s few remaining green lungs.
