Pipe bursts in Section 17, PJ

A pipe leak incident in Jalan Profesor Diraja Ungku Aziz at Section 17 in Petaling Jaya, Selangor this morning (Dec 11) saw motorists driving through muddy water and debris.

Air Selangor workers have started to carry out emergency repair works. This is expected to cause an unscheduled water supply disruption in some parts of the Petaling district from noon today.

The affected areas are Jalan 17A/1, several stretches between Jalan 17/12 and Jalan 17/50, roads between Jalan 19/13 and Jalan 19/26, as well as parts of Jalan 17/21 and the SS2 area, and parts of Section 21.

In a reply to StarMetro, a spokesperson from Air Selangor said the works are expected to be completed midnight tonight.

Air Selangor said water supply will be restored in stages when the water supply distribution system has been stabilised. Water supply is expected to fully recover noon tomorrow (Dec 12).

In October 2019, a similar incident took place in this area when a burst underground pipe along Jalan Profesor Diraja Ungku Aziz caused a sinkhole that swallowed a car, caused a massive traffic jam and cut off the water supply in the area.
