EVER since the Metro Prima MRT station opened, businesses at the commercial area opposite it have complained of heavy traffic, especially from 5pm to 8pm on weekdays.
Congestion is concentrated at the intersection of Jalan Metro Perdana Barat 2 and Jalan Metro Perdana Barat 14 of the Metro Prima commercial area, said community activist Yee Poh Ping.
He had received numerous complaints from the surrounding community, including parents who pick up their children from schools nearby in the evening.
During a site visit, Yee said he had submitted a request to Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) to open an exit route connecting Jalan Metro Perdana Barat 1 to Jalan Metro Perdana Barat 14 in Pekan Kepong.
“Sometimes minor accidents happen due to people’s impatience during the jam,” said Fortune Square 1 Kepong Management Corporation manager Norliza Kasim, who was also present.
“During peak hours, it takes too long for motorists to make a U-turn to go to the main road,” she added.
Yee said if vehicles were allowed to exit from Jalan Metro Perdana Barat 1 towards Jalan Metro Perdana Barat 14, it would help ease the bottleneck at Jalan Metro Perdana Barat 2.
“We hope that DBKL will take action on this matter, as it will provide long-term relief for the surrounding community,” he added.
