Religious teachers in Johor schools eligible for two-month bonus

RELIGIOUS and Fardu Ain (Kafa) teachers in Johor will also receive the two-month bonus for civil servants as announced by Mentri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi.

State Islamic religious affairs committee chairman Mohd Fared Mohd Khalid said these teachers in state Islamic schools would not be left out.

He said this in reply to Mohd Yusla Ismail (BN-Senggarang), who urged the state government to increase the allowance of Kafa teachers from RM512 to RM1,000, during the Johor State Assembly sitting at Bangunan Sultan Ismail in Kota Iskandar.

Mohd Fared added that although the state government still maintained the current allowance of RM512, there were many other incentives given by the state and federal governments to Kafa teachers.

They include special financial assistance (BKK), special financial assistance for Hari Raya (BKKHR) and special financial assistance by the Federal Government.

“The BKK of RM2,000 per person is in addition to the special financial assistance provided by Jakim (Islamic Development Department Malaysia) amounting to RM700 in 2024,” he added.

Mohd Fared said Kafa teachers also received BKKHR assistance of RM1,500, just like any other state government civil servant.

“A total of RM2.8mil has been allocated by Johor government to cover BKK payments to 2,006 eligible Kafa teachers and RM3.5mil has been allocated for the implementation of the BKKHR initiative to 1,700 eligible persons in 2024,” he added.

The state government has allocated RM1.63mil per year for 2,000 teachers to fund their Employees Provident Fund (EPF) contributions and RM231,600 per year for Social Security Organisation (Perkeso) contributions.

“Kafa teachers who have diploma or degrees in the field of education are also given the opportunity to apply for the position of DG29 teacher.”
