OCTOBER is a special month with people around the world wearing pink ribbons in a show of support for breast health.

Also known as Pink October, this is when many activities are organised to raise awareness and educate women on the need for check-ups and early detection of cancer.

Restaurants and hotels also recognise the importance of advocating for improved awareness among women regarding their health.

As such, afternoon tea and high tea affairs in October are popular platforms for eateries to lend support to this cause.

Following the success of last year’s event, Element Kuala Lumpur is once again partnering with Tilley, an Australian manufacturer of soap, scented soy candles and home fragrance products, for its “Pink-tastic Gathering” afternoon tea in support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

For every tea set ordered, the hotel will donate RM5 towards the cause.

Desserts and pastries are taking on a shade of pink, making this an ideal wonderland for women of all ages, not to mention young girls.

Element Kuala Lumpur executive chef Taib Ridhwan said 11 sweet and savoury treats had been created for the promotion at Trace Restaurant and Bar.

“There are five savoury treats and six pink-themed sweets.

“Pink is a widely recognised colour for this cause, and the hotel aims to raise awareness and support efforts initiated by the Breast Cancer Welfare Association Malaysia (BCWA),” he said.

“The highlight of the afternoon tea is Smoked Duck Tortilla Cone, Almond Coated Pink Cake Pop, Poached Half Shell Scallop with Seaweed Salad, Pink Cheese Ball Lollipop and Raspberry Mousse Cream Puff.”

Savoury dishes here include Golden Mini Taro Ball, Pink Berry Sauce and White Fungus Siew Mai and Truffle Sauce.

Under the range of sweet delights are Rose Panna Cotta Strawberry Cream Cheese, Pink Summer Mochi and Raisin Scone, Cream, Strawberry Jam.

Located on the 40th floor, the restaurant is ideal for an afternoon get-together as diners get to enjoy the scenic city view, including Merdeka 118 tower.

Each afternoon tea set for two is priced at RM168nett, inclusive of a pot of Dilmah tea.

The set also comes with a RM50 cash voucher for spa treatments at Serenity by POSH, located on the hotel’s 39th floor.

Marriott Bonvoy members partaking in the “Pink-tastic Gathering” will receive exclusive gifts from Tilley, valued at up to RM110.
