Penang Island City Council wins award for best environmental campaign

PENANG Island City Council (MBPP) has been honoured with the Excellent Local Council Award in the environmental health campaign category by the Local Government Development Ministry.

Minister Nga Kor Ming presented the award in conjunction with World Environmental Health Day 2023 to MBPP’s Environmental Health Department deputy director Dr Chin Wee Loon.

Dr Chin expressed MBPP’s gratitude to the ministry for acknowledging the city council’s excellence in the ‘Dengue Prevention Campaign 2023’.

“MBPP takes pride in this award and views it as an opportunity to further enhance dengue fever prevention for the well-being of Penang residents,” he said.

Describing the achievement as a remarkable feat, Penang island mayor Datuk A. Rajendran congratulated the department.

“This recognition is a testament to the department’s unwavering commitment through its various campaigns to combat dengue in the state,” he said.

He added that the department’s efforts were commendable and hoped it would continue to raise awareness among the public through brochures and conducting informative roadshows. — By IMRAN HILMY
