A SIKH NGO is launching a fundraising project to help those affected by the floods in Punjab, India.

The "Punjab Flood Fury" campaign is aimed at rebuilding lives and restoring hope," said Sikh Naujawan Sabha Malaysia (SNSM) in a statement.

It said the people of Punjab are facing huge challenges and uncertainties due to the devastating floods, leaving many homeless, hungry and feeling helpless.

"They need urgent help and support to survive and recover from this massive natural calamity.

"We are working with local partners and volunteers to distribute the aid and help those affected."

Punjab is a largerly agrarian state and the crops of many farmers, especially padi, have been destroyed by the floods.

SNSM is appealing to Malaysians to join in this urgent humanitarian project and donate through the Global Sikh Relief Fund.

"Together, we can help the people of Punjab overcome this crisis and restore their faith in humanity."
