AN EXCITING line-up of shows and activities was featured at a cultural festival organised by Ampang Jaya Municipal Council (MPAJ) to promote the arts.

Cultural competitions in busking and traditional fashion were held along with dances, traditional games and a handicraft exhibition.

Visitors also enjoyed demonstrations of silat, tanjak, ikatan samping and batik printing.

Schools including SK Pandan Indah and SMK Taman Melawati performed at the festival.

The programme at Menara MPAJ’s amphitheatre involved other agencies, including the National Department for Culture and Arts Selangor, Malaysian Handicraft Development Corporation and the National Heritage Department.

A performance was also held by the cultural academy which has been managed by MPAJ since June 2022.

The workshops are free and open to all ages on every first and third Sunday of the month for theatre and every second and fourth Saturday of the month for dance, from 9am to 1pm.

At the festival, MPAJ also held a prize presentation ceremony for its cleanest housing area competition, which received 13 entries, and its inter-school recycling contest participated by 10 primary schools and nine secondary schools.

Taman Bukit Indah Fasa 2 in Bukit Indah took the top spot in the cleanest housing area competition, winning RM3,000, a trophy and certificate of appreciation.
