SELANGOR and Federal Territory Association for the Mentally Handicapped (SAMH) is holding its annual food and funfair tomorrow.

SAMH is collaborating with Apex Club of Klang for the fundraising event to be held at Sekolah Khas Klang at Taman Chi Lung, Klang, Selangor.

“We aim to raise RM200,000 and have printed 2,500 coupon booklets,” said SAMH president Zaiton Abdul Rahim during a press conference at the school.

She said funds were needed for SAMH to meet its annual budget of RM2.5mil, which includes costs for running seven programmes at its two centres in Klang, Selangor and Brickfields, Kuala Lumpur.

“The money raised will also help us upgrade our buildings and facilities, purchase more equipment such as iPads and computers, pay our teachers’ salaries as well as send them for training,” she added.

SAMH has been organising the food and funfair charity event since 2015 to support 200 children and adults with mental disabilities.

There will be 30 food stalls and food trucks, pop-up booths selling handmade crafts, jumble sales, games booths and lucky draws.

SAMH treasurer Kenny Yang Chang Wah called on the public to support the organisation either by attending the event or donating directly.

Coupons can be purchased from their website, at Sekolah Khas Klang or during the event.

Donors can bank in their contributions, which are tax-exempt, to SAMH’s Hong Leong Bank account 292-00-00471-1.
