Puppies up for adoption in Petaling Jaya tomorrow

The puppies at MDDB adoption drive have been given a clean bill of health.

SOME 24 puppies will be up for adoption in Petaling Jaya tomorrow.

The adoption drive organised by canine welfare project Malaysian Dogs Deserve Better (MDDB) will be held from 11am to 6pm at Atrium, The Square in Jaya One, Petaling Jaya.

“We took in a number of puppies in recent weeks and some independent rescuers will be bringing in more to the event,” said MDDB adoption coordinator Christine Lai.

She said puppies that were rescued during the various movement control orders in 2020 and last year continued to be in MDDB’s care.

These puppies are now young adults, with some to be neutered soon.

“We will be organising an adoption drive exclusively for these dogs in a few months’ time.”

MDDB is also raising funds to neuter these dogs, which are undergoing the procedure in batches.

Lai said most of the puppies put up for adoption tomorrow had been vaccinated and dewormed.

“All the puppies have been given a clean bill of health and now just need good homes.”

She said MDDB hoped that the puppies get good homes with responsible owners who would take good care of them.

“As rescuers, that is what we hope for,” she said, adding it was sad when the puppies ended up unwanted after awhile, in some cases years after their adoption.

“When these dogs are returned to us, we can clearly see that they miss their human families very much. It is very sad to see them pining away.

“Dogs are very loyal to their humans. If only dog owners were as loyal to their pets,” she said.

Those who wish to make donations or drop off items for the dogs can do so at the adoption drive.
