Forest reserves, eco-parks to reopen in Selangor from Saturday (Oct 2)

FOREST reserves and eco-parks in Selangor will reopen to the public starting Saturday (Oct 2), says the state Forestry Department.

It also announced that hiking activities in forest reserves could resume starting Oct 9.

"Visitors must adhere to the National Security Council’s (NSC) standard operating procedures (SOP) as outlined under the National Recovery Plan (NRP) - Phase Three, Natural Resources Ecotourism Sector (ECO Forest & Forest State Park) dated Sept 17," it said in a statement Friday (Oct 1).

The SOP states that visitors who wish to carry out activities in the forest reserves must be fully vaccinated against Covid-19 and subject to any movement control measures in place.

Activities that were allowed under the guidelines include jungle trekking, picnics, water rafting and rock climbing.

This follows Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob’s announcement on relaxations after Selangor and Kuala Lumpur transitioned into Phase Three of the NRP starting on Friday (Oct 1).
