THE River of Life (RoL) project is 92% complete and expected to be ready by 2024.
Remaining work includes beautification and transformation of the 110km Gombak River and Klang River.
Meanwhile, several river cleaning components are ongoing and the completion period has been extended to 2023.
Federal Territories Ministry said, in a statement, that the river cleaning phase of the RoL project was almost complete.
“This includes thorough river clean-up, sewerage system upgrades and increasing rubbish traps along the river.
“We are also introducing the Interceptor system to increase the quality of water for recreational purposes,” the ministry stated.
The Blue Pool, or “Kolam Biru” continues to attract city folk to the iconic tourist site after Kuala Lumpur has moved into the second phase of the National Recovery Plan.
On Sept 15, Federal Territories Minister Datuk Seri Shahidan Kassim and his deputy Datuk Seri Jalaluddin Alias took a walkabout at the Blue Pool.
“Maintaining the facilities at ‘Kolam Biru’ is the responsibility of all parties so that we can maintain the beauty of the River of Life,” Shahidan said.
