Minor changes to fit in new and reappointed MBSJ councillors

Jaafar Mat Akid from Amanah is a newly appointed MBSJ councillor.

THERE has been a slight reshuffling of zones assigned to councillors under Subang Jaya City Council (MBSJ) to accommodate the new faces as well as adjustments for reappointed candidates.

The zones for all 24 MBSJ councillors appointed for the 2021022 term was decided at a Jan 18 meeting.

The six new councillors are Teh Eng Teck, Nor Liyana Yahaya, Kenneth Sam Saminathan, Jestin Raj Savarimuthu, Mohamad Kamil Harun and Jaafar Mat

Akid. Nor Liyana was assigned to Zone 5, Jestin to Zone 9 and Kenneth to Zone 11.Mohamad Kamil will oversee Zone 6 while Jaafar is in charge of Zone 12. Teh will take on Zone 23.

Meanwhile, most of the 13 reappointed councillors were assigned to their old zones while five others, who were sworn in late last year, retained their existing zones.

The only change is for Wong Yii Seang, who has been reassigned to Zone 22 (covering Kampung Baru Seri Kembangan, Taman Jinma, Taman Bukit Serdang Section 4 to 11, Taman Perindustrian Section 14, Taman Teknologi Malaysia, Taman Perindustrian Putra Permai).

He previously oversaw Zone 23.

Under the zoning system, a councillor is assigned to one of 24 zones in the local jurisdiction.

The councillor will work closely with the Residents Committee (JKP) of that zone, comprising representatives from resident groups and non-governmental organisation to look into issues and organise community programmes within that zone.
