JOHOR BARU: Johor Health Department has set up two platforms to provide psychological and emotional support to the public during the movement control order (MCO) period.
State health and environment committee chairman R. Vidyananthan said Johor Health and Psychological Support (MHPSS) team provided special Covid-19 tele-counseling
He said they could be reached at 07-231 1027.
Vidyananthan said MHPSS provided educational material on mental health and emotional issues on its Telegram channel.
“The line operates from Sunday to Wednesday, from 8am to 5pm, as well as from 8am to 3.30pm on Thursday.
“The line is an alternative channel to the Covid-19 Psychological Support line provided by the Health Ministry in collaboration with Mercy Malaysia as well as Talian Kasih set up by the Women, Family and Community Development Ministry,” he said in a statement here.
Vidyananthan added that Johor MHPSS also provided educational material on mental health and emotional issues on its Telegram channel at https://t.me/MHPSSJohor
On a separate matter, he said some 11,726 Covid-19 screenings were conducted so far at five districts categorised as red zones in Johor.
He said the five districts are Johor Baru, Batu Pahat, Muar, Kluang and Kulai.
“Of those screened, 558 tested positive for Covid-19,” he said.
Vidyananthan said the public must continue to abide by the movement control order (MCO) as it has helped to reduce the number of new cases.
“I urge the public to stay calm and follow rules and regulations in place to stay safe.”
He also said the state government would continue to ensure Malaysians coming back from Singapore underwent a strict screening process following a sharp rise in the number of positive cases in the island republic.
