THE trend of using salted egg in dishes is all the rage right now.
At KFC, it is paired with the restaurant’s signature Hot & Spicy Chicken.
Called the KFC Golden Egg Crunch, the limited-time special whets appetites with its special blend of salted egg, curry leaves and sweet basil.
QSR Brands (M) Holdings Bhd Restaurant Division chief executive officer Merrill Pereyra said the latest flavour was a real hit among Malaysians.
“We’ve taken it up a notch by giving it a ‘KFC twist’, to make it more distinctive and flavourful for everyone to enjoy,” he said.
During the launch, QSR Brands (M) Holdings Bhd managing director Datuk Mohamed Azahari Mohamed Kamil said the introduction of the dish was timely as it was in conjunction with the Chinese New Year celebrations.
He also shared the restaurant chain’s outlook for 2018.
“This year, we aim to open about 35 stores, and we have the financial, operational and manpower capacity in addition to our shareholders’ commitment to open them.
He said the company believed in the growth potential of KFC stores in Malaysia, and with new products set to be launched, it would be a successful year for the restaurant chain.
Mohamed Azahari added that about 200 existing stores would get a facelift.
“This is to ensure our restaurants are always up to mark in terms of cleanliness, infrastructure and service,” he said.
KFC Golden Egg Crunch is available in two-piece and three-piece combo meals priced from RM14.50 onwards.
The meals come with signature KFC sides of coleslaw and whipped potato, and a Mug Sarsaparilla.
To cater to bigger groups for the festive season, the restaurant has bundled a Celebration Bucket comprising Original Recipe and Hot & Spicy Chicken with a side of KFC Cheezy Golden Sticks, whipped potato and carbonated drinks.
The bucket comes in five-piece and nine-piece combos.
