Squatters colony in Sandakan facing power cut

KOTA KINABALU: Several hundred residents of a “squatter” colony in the east coast of Sandakan are likely to be deprived of electricity supply as their private power provider has failed to pay up power tariff to the utility company.

Sabah Electricity Sdn Bhd has issued a notice to the licensed independent private distributor (IPD) that it would cut off power supplies by Friday as the latter failed to pay outstanding bills that runs into several hundred thousand ringgit.
