Following the grounding of several four-car trains on the KL Monorail Line last Friday, Rapid Rail Sdn Bhd will provide a temporary shuttle bus service during the morning and evening peak hours to complement the monorail service starting today.
The shuttle buses will serve as an alternative travel option to help mitigate the influx of commuters during peak hours while the KL Monorail Line runs with only two-car trains at eight-minute intervals until further notice.
Shuttle buses will be deployed on three temporary routes between key stations from 7am to 9am in the morning and 5pm to 7pm in the evening at intervals of between 7 to 15 minutes.
The first route will shuttle commuters between KL Sentral monorail station (pick-up point in front of Nu Sentral) and Raja Chulan monorail station at seven-minute intervals for a nominal fare of RM1.
The second route will shuttle commuters between Hang Tuah monorail station (pick-up point directly beneath the station) and Raja Chulan monorail station at 10-minute intervals for a waived fare.
The last route will shuttle commuters between Chow Kit monorail station and Raja Chulan monorail station at 15-minute intervals for a nominal fare of RM1.
According to Rapid Rail chief executive officer Datuk Zohari Sulaiman, the shuttle bus routes will be reorganised if necessary based on their customers’ travel patterns, and auxiliary police and station operations staff would be deployed at the stations to assist commuters.
“In addition to the shuttle bus services, commuters could also opt for the Go KL free bus services, particularly the Go KL Blue Line, between Chow Kit and Bukit Bintang, and the Go KL Green Line between KLCC and Bukit Nanas,” he said.
The four-car trains were grounded on Friday after the company found several safety-related concerns and have demanded the train manufacturer Scomi to work on it, so that the trains will be fit for operations and will not compromise public safety.
Station announcements would be made regularly to update customers on the service status. The latest updates on the service status will also be posted on Twitter (@MyRapidKL or @AskRapidKL) and Facebook, at http://www.facebook.com/myrapid/
