MPSJ identifies site for Rohingya school

They can move into the new space within three or four days, says Nor Hisham.

THE SUBANG Jaya Municipal Council (MPSJ) has identified an alternative site for a temporary Rohingya school that was partially demolished in Sri Serdang.

The school, which has 37 students, was operating on government-owned land.

On Apr 3, The Sun reported that Selangor Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Azmin Ali ordered the Petaling Land Office to withdraw its notice of evacuation to the school and instructed MPSJ to look for an alternative site.

MPSJ president Datuk Nor Hisham Ahmad Dahlan said the council had found a new location in Serdang Raya for the school.

“MPSJ has identified a new site which is a 1114.83sqm shop-lot in Serdang Raya.

“It is only five minutes away from the school’s original location. We are now waiting for further instruction from the state government,” he said.

Nor Hisham added that it was up to the state to decided whether or not the relocation would take place.

“MPSJ’s standard protocol in a crisis like this is to identify a suitable site for relocation within 24 hours. It is up to the State government’s decision to accept or not, but on our end, we have done our part.

“Tomorrow (Apr 13), we will inform the school of the new location, and if approved, they can move into the new space within three or four days,” he said.
