New programmes to boost English proficiency in pre-schools

The Education Ministry will produce a handbook for pre-school teachers and children to teach and learn English the fun way.

KUCHING: Two programmes – smarter phonics and English fun learning – will be introduced in pre-schools in Sarawak to improve English proficiency among teachers and children.

Welfare, Women and Commu­nity Development Minister Datuk Fatimah Abdullah said the state government had allocated RM1mil for smarter phonics and RM638,600 for fun learning this year.
