HUNDREDS of entry passes worth more than RM20,000 for TeddyVille Museum, Camera Museum and Owl Museum were given away at Penang Starwalk 2016, thanks to Footprint Tourism Group.
The tourism destination developer returned as an event sponsor for the walk this year by contributing 620 entry passes for the three museums. There were 500 combined passes for Camera Museum and Owl Museum and 120 weekend entrance tickets for TeddyVille Museum.
TeddyVille Museum Sdn Bhd general manager Eskay Yeap said the 836sq m museum had more than 500 bears on display.
An interpretative museum steeped in culture and history, Teddyville features a collection of uniquely Penang dioramas such as Fort Cornwallis, Chew Jetty, the Unesco heritage site, Batu Ferringhi, Penang Hill and Kek Lok Si Temple.
Renowned Penang personalities such as Tan Sri P. Ramlee, Datuk Jimmy Choo, Datuk Nicole David and Datuk Lee Chong Wei are also immortalised through their teddy bear counterparts in the museum.
“Teddy bears are used as a platform to tell about culture and heritage. They are one of the oldest toys in history, dating back to the late 1800s.
“In the museum, we bring out Penang’s history and specialities through teddy bears,” Yeap said during the presentation of the sponsorship to Star Media Group Berhad account servicing executive Harry Chew at DoubleTree Resort in Jalan Low Yat, Batu Ferringhi, which houses TeddyVille.
He added that TeddyVille included various scenes featuring significant Penang events such as the Penang Bridge Run and the annual Dragon Boat Festival in Teluk Bahang.
