MIRI: The management of public buildings such as shopping centres and operators of public facilities such as public buses in Sarawak, must employ qualified safety officers to oversee safety and health issues of their workers as well as members of the public, who use their facilities.

Sarawak Assistant Minister for Safety, Datuk Lee Kim Shin said a safety officer should be made a mandatory position in private and public companies that provide services to the public.
