Curate Henry Butcher is presenting ‘A Raya Celebration of Generations in Art’ and a fine selection of works by early pioneers, senior masters, eminent contemporary artists, including young rising stars. Fully sourced from collectors, the exhibition features significant works by more than 50 artists including Khaw Sia, Ismail Mat Hussin, Tew Nai Tong, Tan Tong, Khalil Ibrahim and many others. An exhibit of contemporary string instruments and a concert by Ooi Khai Ern and Dr Geraldine Ong is being held today to mark the opening of Deciso’s newly refurbished violin gallery. The recital by Ooi (violin and viola) and Ong (piano) will be held at 8pm, while visitors can check out the exhibit of string instruments by violin makers from 4pm to 6pm. It’s time to don a yukata. The 40th Bon Odori Festival celebrates the homecoming of ancestral spirits through song and dance, and there will be performances, games, fireworks, food stalls selling a variety of Japanese fare and more. Striking and bold, the replica shows off the new yellow and black livery of the 2016 Renault R.S. 16 Formula One car. It will be on display for an entire week at participating showrooms and roadshows, where visitors will have the opportunity to get up close and take photos with the model car.
