Three communities weave world’s longest mat

KUCHING: Three communities in Sungai Asap, Murum and Baram have carved their names in the Guinness World of Record for the longest rattan mat in the world with a 1,128.272m hand woven rattan mat.

Some 700 participants, including 400 women, are involved in making the mat in eight months. These participants come from different races such as the Kayan, Kenyah, Ukit, Lahanan and Penan community.
