GOOD security is the people’s priority and Ipoh’s Bandar Seri Botani residents can look forward to this once an auxiliary police scheme gets going in their area.
Developer Taiko Properties Sdn Bhd manager Lee Chalk Hian said auxiliary police personnel are accorded the authority that is similar to that of regular police when they are within Bandar Seri Botani – a 485ha mixed development.
The uniformed personnel would start work upon completing their training, he said.
“They must pass Bukit Aman’s vetting before they are accepted to undergo training by the Royal Malaysian police.
“They will be trained and empowered under the (Perintah Tetap Ketua Polis Negara A501) law to prevent crime and make an arrest.
“Their job scope covers patrolling, beat patrolling, maintaining public order, crime prevention, crime detection and criminal arrest,” Lee told MetroPerak recently.
He said Polis Bantuan Pinji Botanics Sdn Bhd was approved by the Royal Malaysian Police on April 8.
The police had interviewed the candidates, he said, adding that those successful would have to undergo 63 days of intensive training before starting work.
He said there would be 20 auxiliary police personnel in the first batch and the number would be increased in stages.
Lee said the developer would finance the scheme and residents need not pay for it.
“We want the best, especially in terms of security and peace of mind for residents as well as visitors in Bandar Seri Botani,” Lee said.
Describing the approval from the police for the scheme as a privilege, he said the scheme would not have been possible without the help of Bukit Aman Crime Prevention and Community Safety Department director Comm Datuk Acryl Sani Abdullah Sani, Perak police chief Comm Datuk Seri Abdul Rahim Hanafi and Perak Crime Prevention and Community Safety Department head Senior Asst Comm T. Selvan.
“Polis Bantuan Pinji Botanics Sdn Bhd and the Perak Police will work closely to honour, uphold and protect the image of the police force and serve the people well,” Lee said, adding that Taiko Properties was also grateful to Ipoh OCPD Asst Comm Sum Chang Keong for approving the setting up of a police beat (pondok polis) – Pondok Polis Eco Park 1 at Bandar Seri Botani.
Eco Park 1 and Eco Park 2 are two popular public parks there.
He said an auxiliary police station would also be built in Bandar Seri Botani in the near future.
Lee said the presence of the auxiliary police personnel in Bandar Seri Botani would also be a deterrent for potential crimes, underscoring the importance of crime prevention.
He also noted that a safe and secure living environment is also a vital component of the value of properties.
