Free tuition classes for 32 needy students

The students rejoicing as they have been chosen to join the 10-month programme to prepare them for UPSR and SPM.

FORM Five students Nurul Huda Omar and her cousin Puteri Nur Alya Megat can now attend free tuition classes despite financial constraints.

The 17-year-old cousins from SMK Bukit Gambir were brimming with joy as they can now learn from tutors outside of school, courtesy of the initiative by Seri Delima assemblyman R.S.N. Rayer.

Nurul Huda said the tuition would help as she was weak in Mathematics.

“My parents and I are grateful as we could not afford tuition classes.

“The classes are also within walking distance, so it is very convenient for us,” she said at the launch of the free tuition programme at the Dewan JKKK Bukit Gelugor on Sunday.

They were among the 32 students facing UPSR and SPM who had been enrolled in the 10-month programme for English, Mathematics and Science.

Rayer said six teachers had been enlisted for the programme to be held on Sunday starting this weekend.

“The total cost including the facilities and fees for the six teachers and reference books amounted to RM54,499.

“This programme is for lower income families in Taman Tun Sardon,” he said.

Also present was Bukit Gelugor MP Ramkarpal Singh who commended the programme.
