FOGGING has been carried out at the Taman Desa Jelita flats in Batu Maung, Penang, where three factory workers came down with dengue.

Batu Maung assemblyman Datuk Abdul Malik Abul Kassim said he was aware of dengue cases in the area and fogging had been carried out in the vicinity over the last few weeks.

He also said regular gotong- royong to clean up the place had been organised.

Abdul Malik was commenting on a complaint by factory general manager Gurdial Singh who claimed there was no major action by the authorities although he had filed a complaint with the Penang Island City Council after three of his workers who lived in Desa Jelita were infected with dengue recently.

Gurdial, whose factory is located opposite the flats, said two of his 30 foreign workers were diagnosed with the disease two weeks earlier and another a week earlier.

Penang has been badly hit by dengue with nine deaths recorded until Feb 13 this year compared with two in the same period last year.
