Miri bans open burning


MIRI: Open burning has been banned in the Miri division in northern Sarawak following escalation of forest fires in the Kuala Baram district.

Sarawak Assistant Minister for Communications Datuk Lee Kim Shin yesterday said the Department of Environment had issued warning letters to 11 major landowners in Miri to refrain from open burning.
