Evolution of the parking system in Selangor

MPSJ recently announced that its coupon parking system will be discontinued by 2017.

WHILE the Ampang Jaya Municipal Council (MPAJ) hopes to improve its parking payment system by abolishing the pay-and-display method and introducing the coupon parking system, other local governments in Selangor use a combination of methods.

In mid-1999, the state’s public parking system was fully privatised and two companies were awarded the contract to manage the parking system in the state, via the pay-and-display method.
