Chow explains approval of hillside housing projects

THE 56 hillside housing development projects which are 76m above sea level were approved by the Penang Island City Council (formerly Penang Municipal Council) since 2008 for various reasons.

State Local Government, Traffic Management and Flood Mitigation Committee chairman Chow Kon Yeow said one of the reasons could be because the projects were approved by the council before the 76m-limit came into force, when the Penang Structure Plan (PSP) was gazetted in 2007.
