3 POSTER CONTEST
The Lions Club of Petaling Jaya Metro is holding an International Peace Poster contest with the theme “Share Peace” tomorrrow from 10am to 3pm at the concourse area of Jaya Shopping Centre in Section 14. The purpose of this contest is to promote peace to the younger generations so that they can express their feelings about world peace through their visual art in a creative and innovative way. Children who turn 11 to 13 years old on Nov 15 are welcome to participate. A fee of RM10 will be charged per participant to join the colouring contest.
4 DANCE PERFORMANCE
“3 Faces” is a mixed-bill performance of three different genres performed by the same company of dancers – all graduates and students of Aswara. The performance is part of the Yayasan Sime Darby Festival Satellite Shows 2015. The performance will last for about 75 minutes. Entrance is free. The event will be held today at 3pm and 8.30pm at Black Box Aswara.
5 TRICK OR TREAT FOR ANIMAL SHELTER
The Best Damn Excuse!, an animal-rescue fundraising cum awareness event, is back with a Halloween Edition theme, It will be held today from 4pm to 8pm at El Sid’s Bar in Jalan Setiapuspa, Damansara Heights to raise funds for non-profit animal welfare organisation CherishLife Home as well as to raise awareness on animal adoption. The event will feature various activities such as lucky draws, a best-dressed competition for dog and owner, a treat-hunting competition, and a pumpkin-carving competition for adults, among other activities. The event is a dog-friendly event. Sid’s Pubs will be donating a percentage of proceeds raised from the sale of food and beverage to CherishLife Home. 6 SOLO EXHIBITION
Featuring large scale paintings on tarpaulin and video work, this exhibition marks artist Chong Kim Chiew’s first solo exhibition with Wei-Ling Contemporary, Lot No RT-1, 6th Floor, The Gardens Mall, Lingkaran Syed Putra, Kuala Lumpur. Chong’s paintings work through the idea of “trace” including the notion of tracing, usage of tracing-paper, copying, and the one who traces – to seek, trail and explore the roots or deeper meanings of something. His artworks provoke us to think about our national developments and aspirations. The exhibition started on Sept 25 and ends on Nov 30. 7 POETRY OPEN MIC
KL’s only bimonthly poetry open mic, “If Walls Could Talk” returns with its ninth instalment, featuring poet Elaine Foster and local rap duo Dose Two, plus 10 open mic poetry performers.
