Smiles absent, no thanks to controversial issues and spiralling costs of living

THERE don’t seem to be any vibrant Sept 16 Malaysia Day celebration mood this year. The ordinary rakyat is clearly not in a celebration mode.

I have been walking around Miri City the past few days looking at the general scene and it is obvious that there is an absence of the national and state flags on display.
