THE fun did not end for Starwalkers even after they crossed the finish line near the Penang Times Square during the 38th edition of Penang Starwalk 2015.
Carnival-like games, refreshments and interesting activities awaited them at the booths set up by the event’s Platinum sponsor YES and Silver sponsors E&O, Pallas, 100Plus and Magnum 4D,
A long queue could be spotted at the booth of mobile Internet and voice service provider YES, which comes under YTL Communications.
Its chief operating officer Ali Tabassi said the company was glad to be part of the premier sporting event in the northern region.
“After getting a good workout, participants can check out the best value-for-money 4G Internet plans and bundles with mobile 4G brand YES. This is a wonderful event which involves people of all ages,” he said.
Besides sponsoring RM70,000 in cash, YES also gave away a three-day, two-night stay at Pangkor Laut Resort and a Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 10.1 to a lucky participant.
Southern Rubber Works Sdn Bhd’s (Pallas) brand manager Jo Yee said staff gave out Revive isotonic drinks, packets of Penang White Coffee and tissue papers to participants who took part in their games.
“We also offered our shoe products like Jazz Tome, Freetime, Stanz and Pallas at special prices,” she said.
Magnum Corporation Bhd Penang manager Alan Lim said they were thrilled by the overwhelming crowd lining up at the company booth for games.
“It’s a pleasure to be part of this healthy event. The 1Malaysia spirit is evident as we see participants of all races here,” he said.
Lifestyle property developer Eastern & Oriental Bhd (E&O) also gave out free drinks and T-shirt coupons at its booth.
E&O group strategy and communications (Penang) senior manager Ann Tan said participants could redeem the T-shirts at their sales gallery in Seri Tanjung Pinang, limited to 1,000 pieces only.
She said many Starwalkers also enquired about the E&O Tamarind project, a high-rise development featuring two blocks of 33-storeys, comprising 1,104 units.
F&N regional marketing services executive Samson Soon said 30,000 cups of 100Plus drinks were given out to the participants as soon as they reached the finishing line.
“We have always been supportive of Starwalk since day one and will continue to do so,” he added.
The Star’s Audience Management booth was also a hive of activity as many people checked out the year- end special promotion packages there.
A large number of participants also signed up for the SPM Workshop 2015 and the inaugural Fit For Life Run. organised by the Star Media Group Bhd.
Property developer SP Setia Bhd also gave out 15,000 copies of The Star during the event.
Star Media Group Bhd executive director Tan Sri Kamal Hashim flagged off the walk at 7am at Penang Times Square.
He was accompanied by Penang Amateur Athletics Association (PAAA) president Datuk Syed Mohd Aidid Syed Murtaza, Starwalk Penang 2015 chairman David Yeoh, Tabassi, Ivory Properties Group Bhd executive director Datuk Ooi Chin Loo and PAAA secretary V. Govindasamy.
Also present were Southern Rubber Works brand development manager Katherine Lim and Penang Times Square (shopping management) deputy general manager Ang Kung San.
