KUALA TERENGGANU: The Kuala Terengganu City Council (MBKT) plans to build more pedestrian bridges in several parts of the city.

“There is one 30m pedestrian bridge connecting Paya Bunga Central and Paya Bunga Square which is under construction.

“The other location in the pipeline is near Maybank as the traffic there is always heavy.

“We’re also considering another one at Pasar Besar Kedai Payang, Wisma Darul Iman, and a bridge connecting to the MBKT bus station,” said mayor Datuk Mohamad Kamil Othman.

He expressed hope the well-lit facility could reduce theft and extortion cases.

Mohamad Kamil said the bridges would also provide locals greater safety and security.

“Tourists can also take a walk at night without having to be afraid,” he added.
