DOING laundry will never be a painful chore again, thanks to the newly launched Samsung Activ Dualwash washing machine, which comes with a built-in scrubbing sink.
This new innovation allows pre-treat, pre-wash and soaking of laundry in the scrubbing sink before commencing the wash cycle.
“What we designed is a close to unbreakable scrubbing sink on the top of the machine, together with a water jet and gentle scrubbing surface,” said Samsung Malaysia Electronics (SME) Sdn Bhd head of digital appliances Lim Imun.
She said this during the event launch, as she was demonstrating how the scrubbing sink works.
Users will also get to control the amount of water which fills the scrubbing sink and stop the water flow whenever they want.
“We also designed little holes in the sink to ensure the water will never overflow out of the machine,” she said.
The sink can be used to pre-treat tough stains like soiled clothes to delicates like sweaters and shirt collars.
After pre-soaking the clothes, users only have to flip the scrubbing sink upwards and the water along with the clothes will fall into the machine.
If the water is dirty, there is a function on the machine to drain all water before starting to wash.
The sink can also be locked to the washing machine cover when not in use, and the cover is also designed to be child-proof.
“Mothers will no longer have to bend down in the bathroom to pre-soak clothes and carry heavy pails again,” she said.
She further added that this design to include a built-in sink resulted from their research done in most countries where most people do not have a proper place to do it.
Also present at the launch were local celebrities Aishah Sinclair, Daphne Iking and Serena C.
Aishah said doing the laundry was a big and never-ending chore in her house and the hardest would be the pre-washing and pre-soaking.
“I have two children and the laundry basket is always full.
“First it’s pre-soaking then washing then drying, and when it comes to ironing, the whole cycle starts again,” she said during a chat session at the event.
Aishah has been using the new Activ Dualwash machine recently and she said that it has made her life easier.
Joining the chat session was local radio station announcer Serena C, who also recently got the machine at home.
“Using this new innovation definitely helps save my back as carrying my 10-month-old daughter, who weighs 10kg, is already hurting my back,” she said.
Apart from this, she also likes how the washed clothes are not tangled and have fewer creases.
The machine is able to avoid tangle and creases thanks to its new wobble technology, which causes the clothes in the machine to float around rather then clumped together while washing.
In addition, their Magic Dispenser comes with a propeller inside, which helps create a powerful water vortex to dissolve and spread the detergent evenly.
Users can expect cleaner clothes, and properly rinsed ones rather than finding soap stuck between the creases of the clothes.
“I’m actually looking to buy a new washing machine and I really like this idea of the built-in scrubbing sink,” said local celebrity Daphne Iking.
She explained that she has to do her pre-soaking and pre-treating in the kitchen sink before transferring it into the washing machine to wash.
“I injured my back so I can no longer bend in the bathroom to do the laundry,” she said.
This slick and narrow dark silver machine comes in six different models, ranging from 9kg to 16kg.
Only the 14kg and 16kg models come in chrome colour and the prices range from RM1,499 to RM2,999.
