A GROUP of 23 residents from the Rumah Bakti Ci Hang old folk’s home was taken on a trip to the Chin Swee Caves Temple in Genting Highlands.
It was organised by the Great Heart Charity Association in collaboration with Selangor Chau An Tong Sun Association, which also sponsored the expenses for the trip.
The trip was extra special for the old folk as some had not been there before, while others had not set foot to the temple for more than 10 years.
A group of volunteers were also assigned to take care of the seniors throughout the day.
The elderly visitors were impressed by the various beautiful and colourful statues of Chinese deities, the nine-storey Pagoda, large Buddha statue, and diorama depicting the 10 chambers of hell.
Some also offered prayers at the temple, while others made wishes at a “wishing tree”.
After a short lunch break, the journey continued with a trip to a vegetable farm known as “Mini Cameron”, where the old folk learned about hydroponic farming.
The old folks had an enjoyable time throughout the trip, especially with the companionship provided by the volunteers. One of them even joked that she would like to follow her volunteer back to his home country, as the volunteer who took care of her was from Poland.
The volunteers were also glad to have escorted the home’s residents.
