JOHOR BARU: With the goods and services tax (GST) set to be implemented on April 1, The Star and UHY GST Consulting have jointly organised a series of workshops on ‘GST & YOU’ to enlighten business owners and members of the public on GST matters.
Response gathered to the The Star’s free GST workshop, which started on Jan 17 at Menara Star in Petaling Jaya, has been overwhelming with hundreds of e-mail and calls received to join the workshop earlier.
The first few workshops previously were held in Klang Valley and Penang and this workshop were organised between Jan 17 and Mar 28 in several areas including Petaling Jaya, Penang and Johor Baru.
The second session, which was held at Menara Star in Petaling Jaya earlier this month, saw a full house with more than 100 business owners attending.
GST would benefit companies as they would be able to recover input tax on startup costs and normal business expenditure.
The workshops would cover topics on the impact for late registration, GST compliance and transitional rules to ensure businesses complied with the new ruling.
Meanwhile, the workshop in Johor Baru would be held free this Saturday, March 14, from 2pm until 5pm at Sunway College Johor Baru, which is the venue, sponsored for the workshop here.
