Women employees of Star Publications (M) Bhd had a chance to kick back and pamper themselves in conjunction with International Women’s Day,
They were treated to services and products including accessories by Vintage 1988, ice cream from Forty Licks, manicures from Jac & Ivy Nail Spa, spa products as well as shoulder massage by Tanamera Spa and foot massages by members of the Malaysian Association for the Blind.
Internal audit staff Norshamim Md Idris, took the opportunity to get a manicure.
“I’d like to see women be treated equally and be given the same opportunities as men,” she said on the significance of the day.
“I think it’s good because we usually don’t have the time to treat ourselves,” said finance staff Saranya Rajeswaran.
She added that to progress, girls should be encouraged to be more proactive and less reserved.
“I’d like to see more women -centric shows being made and more successful women being celebrated,” she said, adding that women do not necessarily have to be career-oriented to be considered successful.
“Women should believe there is nothing we cannot do,” said Sharifah Thuraizah, from the admin and human resource unit.
Nicole Chia, 27, co-founder of Vintage 1988, was happy to be part of such an important event for women.
Owner and founder of Jac & Ivy Nail Spa Ivy Chong, 26, agreed, saying women felt recognised and valued through such events.
The celebration ended with a lucky draw that saw 10 women walking away with goodie bags courtesy of the sponsors.
