SIBU: Master seamster Ling Ee Ching has added another feather on his cap by winning the first prize for the Golden Tailoring category at the recent 2nd Malaysian Golden Enterprise Award.
An elated Ling, who has been a tailor for 25 years, flew to Kuala Lumpur with his family recently to collect the prize from Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department, Datuk Dr Wee Ka Siong.
The award is the 11th in his collection which included winning the Congress of the Federation of Asian Master Tailors and World Federation of Master Tailors.
In the inaugular competition for tailor, Ling took home a framed certificate and a matching trophy.
The award was opened to all seamtress in the country where they nominated themselves for it. Nineteen others from other different businesses also picked up their prizes. The award was aimed at recognising business leaders while encouraging young entrepreneurs to expand their businesses overseas.
“I wish to thank the organiser, the Federation of Malaysia Chinese Guilds Association (Hang Tuan)I am very happy to have won the award. This is not only a pride for me but also for the state,” he said yesterday.
The award, he said, served to inspire him to do well in his tailoring skill.
Ling, the founder of Mr Tailor, said the attire of Ka Siong for the award presentation ceremony was tailored by him.
