SIJIL Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia (STPM) leavers will now have an extra option when the scholarship application season rolls around.
Bangsar Village recently announced the launch of its first Kids’ for Kids’ Scholarship Awards for needy and deserving individuals.
Its holding company, Eng Lian Enterprise Sdn. Bhd and anchor tenant Village Grocer have both pledged to donate RM50,000 each towards the initiative.
On top of that, another RM50,000 was raised from the sale of books and the auction of photo canvases by the talented Y.Y. Chin.
“With a total of RM150,000 to kickstart the programme, the search is on for three deserving students that have demonstrated excellence in and out of the classroom,” said Bangsar Village complex manager Tan Joon Kai.
“It is our aim to assist those who may otherwise not have the chance to pursue their dreams, and help turn them into a reality,” shared Tan.
“To ensure that this is the case, we have a strict set of criteria. One of the conditions is that the candidate must come from a family where the monthly household income is not more than RM4,000.
“For now, the focus is on those who wish to pursue maths, science and technology disciplines, but in time, we shall expand to include more fields of study,” added Tan.
Bangsar Village is the first shopping centre to offer scholarship awards.
The scholarship offers full educational financial assistance for undergraduate studies at local institutions.
Persons living with disabilities are also encouraged to apply.
The scholarship application opened on Jan 1 and will end on April 30.
